"...it’s Christmas!” - Our Christmas Paraliturgy

“Lift up your voices, sing out: it’s Christmas!”,  the dancers proclaimed at the conclusion of Monday's prayer service. In beautiful readings, songs and dances, the story of God’s saving
work was retold. The rousing “Joy to the World” sung by the entire student body shouted out the true meaning of the season.

Christmas is a season of knowledge in most Christian churches. Christmas season customs include carol singing, gift giving, participation in narration dramas, and church services, and special meals, such as Christmas cakes. In the Roman Catholic Church, slippery in the proper sense collectively, is the divine office, and burial. These actions are also known as devotion or devotional exercises, meaning that they are accepted voluntarily and not out of duty.
