2017 International Microwave Science Conference
On June 8th the Academy's Jr. HS Vex IQ Robotics Team consisting of Kammiee Ardo, Ayla Hakikawa, and Nanami Mehring, accompanied by Miss Robertson, participated in the 2017 International Microwave Symposium’s Student and Teacher STEM Experience at the Convention Center.

Their day was packed with exciting activities. First, the students presented their STEM Poster and research to others, including Mrs. Dawn Amano-Ige, the governor’s wife; with their poster showcase winning 1st Place for Outstanding Achievement in the Middle School Division!

Students toured different exhibits featuring an Augmented Reality Sandbox, Analog Devices, Autonomous Car Track and Virtual Reality; each showcasing how microwaves, part of the electromagnetic spectrum, are used in everyday life now and could possibly be used in the future. 
To end the day, students attended a Women in Microwaves Panel, where successful women such as Dr. Olga Boric Lubecke shared their insights and inspiration as engineers and microwave specialists.
