Sneak Peek: Progress Continues on the Clarence T.C. Ching Junior Innovation Center

Excitement continues to grow as construction progresses on the future Clarence T.C. Ching Junior Innovation Center at Sacred Hearts Academy.

Recently, the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts joined Academy leadership for a site visit to see firsthand how the project is advancing. Their visit offered a meaningful opportunity to witness the transformation of a vision rooted in faith, innovation, and learning into a space that will serve generations of young learners.

Made possible through the generous support of the Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation, the Junior Innovation Center will provide a dedicated makerspace for students beginning at age 2. The center will foster curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on STEM experiences that empower students to become confident learners and future innovators.

We are grateful for the continued partnership and support that are helping make this exciting project a reality and look forward to sharing more updates as progress continues.

Happy Birthday and Safe Travels, Fr. Jeremy Sabugo, ss.cc.

Sacred Hearts Academy extends warm birthday blessings to Fr. Jeremy Sabugo, ss.cc., who celebrated his birthday over the weekend.

We are deeply grateful for his faithful ministry as our school chaplain and for the many ways he helps nurture the mission and vision of the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts within our community. His presence, guidance, and spiritual leadership continue to inspire our students, faculty, staff, and families.

As he continues his travels abroad, we lift him in prayer:

"Loving God, we thank You for the gift of Fr. Jeremy's life and vocation. Bless him on his birthday and throughout the year ahead. Grant him good health, joy, wisdom, and peace. Keep him safe in his travels, protect him wherever he may go, and bring him safely back to our Sacred Hearts Academy 'ohana. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen."

We wish Fr. Jeremy a blessed birthday, safe travels, and God's abundant grace. We look forward to welcoming him back to campus later this month. 🤍💛🙏✈️

Why an All-Girls Education Matters

Girls' schools are uniquely positioned to support the ways girls learn and grow. Studies have shown that students attending all-girls schools often report strong levels of support from both their classmates and teachers, helping them build confidence and achieve their full potential.

At Sacred Hearts Academy, this philosophy shapes everything we do. Our curriculum and learning environment are intentionally designed to encourage academic excellence, leadership development, and personal growth. By fostering confidence and resilience, we empower students to flourish not only during their time at the Academy but throughout their lives.

From preschool through grade 12, Sacred Hearts Academy offers programs tailored specifically for girls and young women at every stage of their educational journey.

We invite families to learn more about our vibrant school community. Contact our Admission Team or complete an inquiry form today to discover what makes a Sacred Hearts Academy education so special. 🤍💛

The Power of YOU: Kiana Cayabyab Inspires SHA Student Ambassadors

Sacred Hearts Academy's Student Ambassadors gathered this October for a workshop with a simple, powerful theme: "The Power of YOU — Building Your Personal Brand, Confidence & Future."

Leading the session was special guest presenter Kiana Cayabyab, a Hawaiʻi journalist, host, model, actor, and content creator. Born and raised on Kauaʻi, Cayabyab is a Kamehameha Schools Kapālama graduate who went on to Loyola Marymount University before building a career in journalism and hosting — most recently as a Digital News Host with the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

Framing her talk as "My Journey: From Kauaʻi to Creating My Own Path," Cayabyab walked students through the pillars of an authentic personal brand: confidence and authenticity, creating opportunities, and overcoming challenges — closing with words of wisdom and an open Q&A.

Her central message resonated across the room: "Your personal brand isn't about creating a perfect image. It's about knowing who you are, what you stand for, and how you want to show up in the world."

Mahalo to Kiana Cayabyab for sharing her story and investing in our young women — the next generation of women who lead.

Welcoming ACE Scholarships Leadership to Sacred Hearts Academy

Sacred Hearts Academy was honored to welcome Kristy Badger, Chief Marketing Officer at ACE Scholarships; Sindy Beckerle, National Foundations Manager; and Micah Hirokawa, President of ACE Hawaii, along with their families, for a special visit to campus.

As a proud ACE partner school, Sacred Hearts Academy values the important role ACE Scholarships plays in helping families access educational opportunities that best meet their children's needs. The bonds of Sacred Hearts sisterhood truly last a lifetime. 🤍💛

From Big Sister and Little Sister to lifelong friends. 🤍💛

Mahalo to Academy alumna and dedicated volunteer Stephanie "Stevie" Ching Kiyosaki '76 for sharing these special photos and memories. At Sacred Hearts Academy, one of our cherished traditions is the Big Sister-Little Sister program, where students mentor and support classmates two classes behind them.

A beautiful example of the Big Sister-Little Sister dynamic in action: Stevie '76 was Karineh's Big Sister, and Karineh, '78 was Debby,'80 Big Sister, creating a mentorship legacy that spans multiple classes. Joined by Desiree Calistro '82, the group recently reunited, proving that the friendships forged at the Academy continue to flourish decades later.

Thank you, Stevie, for helping us celebrate the enduring friendships, mentorship, and lifelong sisterhood that make Sacred Hearts Academy so special. 🤍💛

Sacred Hearts Academy Welcomes Michael Rawson as Director of Development

Sacred Hearts Academy is pleased to welcome Michael “Mike” Rawson as our new Director of Development.

Mike brings more than 20 years of advancement and educational leadership experience, along with a deep commitment to Catholic education and service. Throughout his career, he has served as a classroom teacher, athletic coach, school administrator, advancement professional, and chief financial officer, providing him with a broad understanding of the many ways schools support student growth and success.

Much of Mike’s career was spent at Notre Dame Academy, an all-girls Catholic high school in Los Angeles, where he served in several leadership roles, including Economics Teacher, Director of Athletics, Director of Institutional Advancement, and Chief Financial Officer. He later expanded his experience through leadership work with Palisades Charter High School and the EduCare Foundation.

Mike shares Sacred Hearts Academy’s commitment to educating young women to lead lives of faith, purpose, and service. He looks forward to meeting students, families, alumnae, benefactors, and community partners while becoming an active presence throughout our Academy ʻohana.

His work will help strengthen connections between the generosity of our supporters and opportunities that enrich the educational experience for our students and families.

We invite our alumnae, families, friends, and supporters to join us in extending a warm welcome to Mike as he begins this new chapter at Sacred Hearts Academy.

E komo mai, Mike! Welcome to the Sacred Hearts Academy ʻohana. 💛🤍

First Friday Liturgy - October 2026

At the Academy, each day time is devoted for prayer, reflection, and matters of the heart. Rooted in the Catholic identity, Sacred Hearts Academy embraces all faith traditions from across the globe. Last week, the Academy gathered in faith for our First Friday Liturgy, a cherished tradition that brings our school community together in prayer, reflection, and thanksgiving. As we begin a new month, may we carry the spirit of the liturgy with us—leading with faith, serving with love, and keeping the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary at the center of all we do.
