Marching to Honor Nation’s Veterans

A contingent from the Academy honored the sacrifices made by those serving in the military, past and present, by participating in the 69th Annual Veterans’ Day Parade in Wahiawa on November 11.

Academy Band Director Keith Higaki
and 70 musicians and 10 color guard members proudly marched down California Avenue, playing “Kohala March” and “Bang Bang.” They were led by the Academy’s Intermediate cheerleaders, who carried a “Mahalo Veterans” banner made special for the parade. This marked the return of the Band to the Veterans’ festivities after a four-year absence, and Higaki was thrilled with the enthusiasm displayed by the Marching Band and
those in attendance.

In addition to the Marching Band and cheerleaders, abo
ut 14 members of the Leo Club, accompanied by Advisor Whitney Miyahira, also participated, passing out candy and further augmenting the appreciation on display for the hard work and sacrifice of America’s Veterans.
